On December 6, at approximately 7:44 a.m., the Snowflake-Taylor Police Department was dispatched to the Taylor Airport for welfare check after receiving a 911 call from an Apple Watch.

A 68-year-old Show Low man was ultimately flown to a Phoenix hospital for life-threatening injuries after it was discovered the plane he was flying had crashed.

Prior to the arrival of emergency services, a pilot of another plane was flying over the airport just moments before and also called emergency services as he saw the plane on the ground that had crashed.

Investigators believe that the plane crashed while taking off. However, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
