This week, as illegal immigrants continue to flood across the southern border, forcing the closure of the Lukeville Port of Entry, Congressman Juan Ciscomani and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan called on the Biden Administration to suspend and cancel appointments made through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) “CBP One” app.

The Congressman say that instead of enforcing U.S. immigration law to deter illegal immigration, CBP has opted to close or limit access to Ports of Entry in Lukeville, Arizona, San Ysirdo, California, and Eagle Pass, Texas, so that agents and officers can process more illegal immigrants into the United States.

The Congressmen are urging CBP to pause and cancel appointments made through the app.

“The Biden Administration once again prioritizes illegal immigration over legitimate trade and travel by deciding to suspend operations at our Ports of Entry while continuing to process illegal immigrants through the CBP One App,” said the Congressmen. “Despite CBP not having the manpower to staff Ports of Entry – which our communities rely on – the Administration is still processing nearly 1500 appointments daily through the app, in addition to taking ‘walk-ins’ as needed.”

They continued, “The closure or suspension of operations at a Port of Entry should be the last resort. Non-essential operations, like processing CBP One app appointments, should be the first operations shut down when redirecting personnel to address an influx of illegal immigrants. The Biden Administration is not only playing fast and loose with local economies and the daily lives of southwest border residents but also proving that it prioritizes illegal immigration over American citizens.”
