The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has filed a Notice of Intent to seek the death penalty against a child killer, Thomas James Desharnais for killing his cell mate.
The crime occurred in 2022, at a time when both men were held at the Lower Buckeye Jail.
At the time of the jail killing, Desharnais was in custody, charged with first degree murder for the 2022 death of an 11-year-old boy. Desharnais is also accused of long-term abuse of the child, who was the grandson of his live-in partner, Stephanie Davis. Davis was also charged in connection with the child’s murder.
