Phoenix Police Detectives Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Collision

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a fatal hit and run collision involving a vehicle and a motorcyclist near 48th Street and McDowell Road.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, just after 9:00 p.m., on December 14, 2023, officers responded to a call of a collision near 1400 North 48th Street. When officers got to the scene, they found a man suffering life-threatening critical injuries. The man was taken to the hospital where he was not able to survive his injuries.

Detectives learned that 44-year-old Ralph Shepard Jr. was riding his motorcycle north on 48th Street and hit a black colored car that made a left turn in front of him. Shepard was then struck by a second vehicle who was also driving north on 48th Street. The driver for the second vehicle stayed on scene and showed no signs of impairment. The suspect car was last seen driving east through an ally near Willetta Street with damage to the passenger side of the car.
