Four suspects are now in custody in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Marc Leyva.
On November 28, 2023, just before 9:00 p.m., Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 7th Avenue and Alta Vista Road regarding a call of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Leyva, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Leyva was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
On December 14, detectives located and arrested 18-year-old Dareon Harris and a male juvenile after evidence was obtained linking the suspects to the homicide.
Four days later, detectives located and arrested 19-year-old Leonard Brown who was also identified as a suspect in this case.
The fourth suspect, 18-year-old Takari Humphreys, was located and arrested on Wednesday, December 20.
All four suspects were interviewed and admitted to their involvement in a premeditated robbery that resulted in the death of Leyva. The charges range from First-Degree Murder, Attempted Robbery, and Aggravated Assault.
Currently, there are no other outstanding suspects relating to this incident.
