Phoenix police detectives are investigating an early morning fatal collision involving a jaywalker near 55th Avenue and Thomas Road.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on Thursday morning, just after 4:30, officers responded to a call of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian near 55th Avenue and Thomas Road. The pedestrian, identified as 41-year-old Jose Gomez, was pronounced deceased on scene.
The vehicle remained on scene and the driver was not injured.
Detectives believe Mr. Gomez was attempting to cross mid-block on Thomas Road. A vehicle going east on Thomas Road struck him. The driver of the vehicle showed no signs of impairment.
