Phoenix police detectives are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian. The driver remained on scene and was processed for DUI.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, late last night, just after 11:30, officers responded to a call of a collision involving a truck and pedestrian near 51st Avenue and Camelback Road. The pedestrian was identified as an adult male and was transported to the hospital where he later died. The truck driver remained on scene.
No one else was injured.
Detectives believe the pedestrian was sleeping in the roadway near a shopping cart on the access road located on the southwest corner of 51st Avenue and Camelback Road. The truck was going west on the access road and struck the sleeping pedestrian. The driver of the truck, an adult man displayed signs and symptoms of impairment and was processed for DUI.
