Phoenix police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of 15-year-old Daniella Espinosa, and a man in the hospital. A teenaged shooter is in custody and facing murder and aggravated assault charges.

Phoenix police responded to a shooting call at a home near 7th Avenue and Broadway Road late last night. Officers received information a man and a teenaged female was shot.

Officers arrived and were directed to a female, later identified as Daniella, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Espinosa was rushed to the hospital by the fire department where she died from her injuries.

Officers were told by witnesses a second victim was taken to the hospital, with a non-life-threatening injury, by another person on scene. There were multiple people inside the home at the time of the shooting that remained in the area to speak with investigators.

Homicide detectives learned there was a teenaged male suspect inside the home with a firearm just prior to the incident. The suspect was seen manipulating the firearm that resulted in multiple shots being fired that struck the two victims. The suspect was detained at the scene and referred to the Juvenile Court Center for Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Weapons Charges. The firearm that investigators believe was used by the suspect was also recovered.
