After an extensive investigation, detectives developed probable cause for the arrest of 17-year-old Isaac Orozco, who was involved in the murder of 15-year-old Giaginette Brown.

Orozco was arrested on January 3, 2024 and booked into the Juvenile Corrections Center on murder.

On Friday, January 12, 2024 a Maricopa County Grand Jury indicted Orozco as an adult on two felony charges including second degree murder.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on September 3, 2023, around 8:00 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the area of 109th Avenue and Taft Street regarding a person that was shot. When officers arrived, they located Giaginette, with at least one gunshot wound. Life saving measures were attempted by the Phoenix Fire Department, but she did not survive her injuries and Giaginette was pronounced deceased.

Detectives discovered that Giaginette was in her bed, when shots entered her home between midnight and 3:00 a.m. At least one of the several bullets that entered the house struck her. It is believed that the home was the intended target of the shooting.

Now Phoenix police homicide detectives are searching for a person of interest, identified as 16-year-old Jason “JJ” Richards. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Richards or any other information pertaining to this case, they are asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) and provide an anonymous tip.
