A violent and random attack resulted in a Sierra Vista women being airlifted to a Tucson hospital this weekend.

According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday January 20, 2024 at approximately 8:53 a.m., deputies responded to a report of an assault that had occurred in a residential neighborhood south of Sierra Vista.

Deputies believe that the victims, 67-year-old Diane Osborne and 70-year-old Charles Osborne were on their morning walk, when they were attacked by 37-year-old Kyle Stoll near San Paulo and Camino Principal.

The Sheriff’s Office says that the “attack was random, as neither party had met the other before. Both victims suffered significant physical injuries but were able to get back to their home in the 4800 block of Santa Lucia before calling for help.”

Both victims sustained serious injuries and were bleeding from their face and head areas.

The couple said that they were on their daily walking loop when they got to the area of Camino Principal and San Paulo and noticed a white man in his 30’s, following them.

The couple said that the man subject was yelling at them and did not make sense, so they crossed the street several times to avoid him wherein he continued to follow them.

The couple advised that the man, later identified as Stoll, approached them in an aggressive manner and Mr. Osborne pushed Stoll backwards when he got too close. The couple said that Stoll then physically attacked them using his fists, punching both of them multiple times in the face/head area.

After initial medical tests were performed, it was discovered that Mrs. Osborne was suffering from multiple blunt force trauma injuries to her face including a fractured nasal bone and a brain bleed. These injuries necessitated air transport to a Tucson hospital for further treatment.

Mr. Osborne is suffering from significant facial injuries and serious lacerations to his head and scalp.

Stoll was found walking in the neighborhood near Sagebrush and San Paulo, covered in blood and he was taken into custody. Stoll is receiving treatment for injuries to his hands and will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
