Police Investigating 5-Month-Old Drowning Death In South Phoenix

Phoenix Police detectives were called to investigate an infant drowning call in south Phoenix Saturday afternoon.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on February 10, 2024, just after 12:00 p.m., officers responded to an injured person call at an apartment complex located at 2050 West Southern Avenue. When officers arrived, they learned the 5-month-old infant was not responsive and had been left unattended in the bathtub for a period of time.

Officers provided emergency treatment until relieved by Phoenix Fire employees who continued treatment while transporting to the hospital. At the hospital, emergency treatment continued until the victim was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

This is an ongoing investigation with no arrest made at this time, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
