Son Accused Of Murdering His Elderly Phoenix Parents

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred early Monday morning that resulted in the death of an older couple at the hands of their adult son.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on February 12, 2024, around 5:15 a.m., officers responded to a domestic violence call at a home near 35th Street and Campo Bello Drive. While enroute, officers learned the caller had claimed his father had shot and killed his mother, then turned the gun on himself. When they arrived, officers found the caller, later identified as 38-year-old Jim Miller, and detained him.

Officers entered the home and found the remains of 73-year-old Sam Miller and 72-year-old Marjorie Valentine. Officers also found a roommate inside the home who was unharmed.

When detectives interviewed Miller, he admitted to shooting his parents sometime during the night.
