Phoenix Police Investigating Deadly Motorcycle Collision

Detectives were called to investigate a vehicle collision involving a 37-year-old bicyclist Tuesday evening in west Phoenix.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on February 27, 2024, just before 6:00 p.m., Police officers responded to a serious collision in the area of 75th Avenue and Hazelwood Street. While on scene, officers located 37-year-old Harlan Slender suffering from critical injuries as a result of being struck by a truck. Slender received emergency medical treatment and taken to the hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Detectives learned from witness that Slender was attempting to cross 75th Avenue on his bike when he was struck by a truck driven by an adult male. The driver and two occupants of the truck stayed on scene and spoke with officers.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor at this time.
