Phoenix police are investigating a fatal traffic collision between a passenger car and motorcycle that occurred last night near East Cactus Road and Cave Creek Road.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, just after 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to 2000 East Cactus Road to find a male motorcyclist with serious injuries on the road.

The man, later identified as 50-year-old Eric Busby, was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators learned Busby was traveling eastbound on Cactus Road at a high rate of speed when he collided with the back of a gray four-door vehicle. The gray vehicle was leaving a private drive on the south side of Cactus Road and cleared three lanes before being hit by Busby.
