Police Investigate Fatal Hit And Run Collision In East Phoenix

Detectives are looking for a suspect in a fatal hit and run collision that happened late Friday night.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were called to a vehicle collision around 1:00 a.m. near 60th Street and McDowell Road. When officers arrived, they found a deceased pedestrian on the roadway with several vehicles stopped nearby. Officers located the vehicle and the driver who was involved in the collision with the pedestrian.

Detectives learned the pedestrian was in the roadway, for unknown reasons, and was initially struck by an unknown vehicle heading westbound on McDowell Road. The unknown vehicle then drove off after the collision. A second vehicle, who was also heading westbound on McDowell Road, then struck the pedestrian as he was laying on the roadway. The driver of the second vehicle stopped and called for help.

The Office of the Medical Examiner responded and collected the remains of the pedestrian.

Anyone with information regarding this hit and run collision is asked to call Phoenix police or Silent Witness if they wish to remain anonymous.
