Deadly House Fire Investigated As Arson By Phoenix Police

Arson detectives are investigating a Phoenix house fire that left a man dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the fatal house fire occurred near 2200 East Monterey Way Thursday afternoon.

On June 27, 2024, at about 12:40 p.m., officers responded to an emergency call of a house fire and assisted the Phoenix Fire Department with traffic control. After extinguishing the fire, 66-year-old Terrence Smithers was found deceased in the home.

Details into what caused the fire and death of the victim are still under investigation.
