Phoenix Police Investigators Respond To Fatal Truck Fire

Phoenix Police and Fire Arson detectives are investigating a truck fire that occurred near 9100 North 7th Street late Saturday morning.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on June 29, 2024, at about 10:00 a.m., Phoenix police and fire personnel responded to the area of 9100 North 7th Street for a vehicle collision involving a truck on fire. The Phoenix Fire Department extinguished the truck fire then transported 82-year-old Marchell Larson to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

Larson was hospitalized and later died as a result of his injuries.

Officers on scene learned that Larson was driving north on 7th Street when the bed of this truck caught fire. While passing Dunlap Avenue, Larson was witnessed crashing into a wall with his truck still engulfed in flames. A witness was able to remove Larson from the truck prior to first responders arriving on scene.

Details into what caused the fire and death of the victim are still under investigation.
