
Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision involving two vehicles that collided head-on.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were called to a vehicle collision just after 10:30 a.m. in the area of 57th Avenue and McDowell Road. When officers arrived, they found two vehicles, a red passenger car and a black passenger car, stopped on the roadway with substantial damage.
The fire department responded and extricated three people from the vehicles. The driver of red vehicle, 37-year-old Eric Allen, was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the black vehicle, 51-year-old Indalecio Lara, was also rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The third person, an adult female passenger in the red vehicle, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening-injuries and continues to receive treatment.
Detectives believe the red vehicle was heading westbound on McDowell Road, while approaching 57th Avenue, when the vehicle went into oncoming traffic and collided with the black vehicle, which was heading eastbound on McDowell Road from 57th Avenue.
