A Maricopa County man, Jeremy James Beene, has been indicted on 42 counts involving organized retail crime and shoplifting.

According to the indictment, Beene’s criminal activity focused primarily on expensive construction equipment from The Home Depot stores throughout the entire county, including Chandler, Mesa, and Phoenix. From February 2022 thru June 2024, the defendant is captured on surveillance video removing merchandise for a total amount of nearly $60,000.

“At the end of the day, we all pay for those who commit this type of crime,” said Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. “The loss to stores has a real domino effect and that is higher prices for consumers.”

On June 28th, Beene was indicted on the following:

  • 38 counts of Organized Retail Theft, a Class Four Felony
  • 1 count of Shoplifting, a Class Six Felony
  • 3 counts of Shoplifting, a Class One Misdemeanor
  • Beene is currently in custody on a $35,000 secured appearance bond.
