Imagine an arrangement at your job where you and your boss devise a plan where you can both enrich yourselves with company money. In this little scheme, your boss awards you a bonus check which you then split with her. You both get paid by that one bonus.
It works out pretty well for both of you. Your boss is in a position of authority to approve the bonus check and you’re in a position to give the money to whoever you want. It all works out at the expense of the company shareholders who are being exploited in the process. But, as long as nobody notices, it can continue indefinitely.
This is a classic case of quid pro quo (If you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours). It’s corruption and, if it happened in your workplace, it would be totally unacceptable. So why are we allowing this to happen with our own tax money right now with leaders seeking election here in CFSD?
Timeline:
June 2022:
Currently serving CFSD Board President Eileen Jackson, who is now running for your vote in the “CFSD Students First campaign,” approved a $5,000 performance bonus to Dr. K. For the sake of argument, let’s assume Dr. K deserved this bonus based on meeting performance objectives.
August 2022:
Two months after receiving the bonus, Dr. K makes two payments of $1,500 to Board member Amy Bhola’s election campaign for a total of $3,000. Payments are made with her maiden name (Mary Sundby) and altered home address. Bhola shares these proceeds with her other two running mates Gina Mehmert and Amy Krauss. This and other contributions helped them out fund their opposition and win the election granting them board control in January 2023.
June 2023:
Six months into their term, Board members Jackson, Bhola, Mehmert, and Krauss voted to again pay Dr. K the full $5,000 performance bonus. Meanwhile, academic metrics such as math and science proficiency and graduation rates continue to decline to new historic lows.
June 2024:
These Board members voted again to award Dr. K the full $5,000 performance bonus. Academics continue their decline and more families withdraw from the district enrollment.
July 2024:
CFSD Students First launches their campaign. Less than a month after “CFSD Students First” candidate pays Dr. K another full $5,000 bonus, Dr. K takes some of that money and pays $1,041 to the “CFSD Students First” campaign. Once again, the campaign finance documents submitted to the government contain a fictitious name and address concealing the source as Dr. K.
This is what corruption looks like. The CFSD Students First campaign knew everything I just told you, and they did this with your tax money anyway.
To summarize:
After approving her bonus, Dr. K put your taxpayer funded money right into the pockets of the “CFSD Students First campaign.” And they knew that Dr. K was hiding her identity with a false name and address on campaign finance reports.
At least Dr. K was wise enough to try to hide from it. “CFSD Students First” is not only corrupt, but they don’t cover their tracks very well, so we’re able to break this news so you can make an informed choice this November.
Fortunately, we’re not stuck in this pay to play cycle of corruption. There is another choice. Long time CFSD parent, resident, and district alumnus Jennifer Repscher and Bart Pemberton another long time CFSD parent and resident are stepping up to get this district leadership back under control.
If you live CFSD if you love public education. You should hate this!
During the current reign on the board, families who have always lived here and families who moved here to the foothills because of the schools are leaving in droves. It’s now over a third of all foothills households with kids choose some other option – including other public schools like TUSD and Sunnyside over the Foothills. It’s time we do something before it’s too late. Vote Pemberton and Repscher this November.
When I was working in the 3rd world I often thought that I was glad it wasn’t as corrupt in the good old USA. Bwahahahahaha. It was just more hidden back then and not as blatant as it is now. And not just blatant, but down to the lowest levels and up to the highest.
This shouldn’t be a surprise. The same thing happens on the State and Federal level and everyone looks the other way. These idiots just take their cue from everyone else and do what’s best for them and not the kids. And one has to wonder how much longer the public school system can exist with teachers unions and crooked board members more concerned about their own pockets and their power rather than the kids that they leave behind. It’s obvious that the schools are failing when parents are paying to send their kids to private schools or homeschool them. Now you know why the left hates the state money going to home schoolers so much. It has proved to be money well spent and that just infuriates the left even more.
Typical, they name goal of their grift “Students First campaign”! Jail time and restitution please.
