According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were called to a vehicle collision around 2:45 p.m. in the area of 7th Street and Deer Valley Road. When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the roadway and a vehicle stopped nearby.
The fire department responded and provided aid to both men involved in the collision.
The man driving the motorcycle, later identified as 34-year-old Braiden Lawson, was rushed to the hospital and later died from his injuries. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives believe that Lawson was driving the motorcycle at a high rate of speed, westbound on Deer Valley Road, when he ran the red light and T-boned into a black Chevrolet Malibu, who was making a left hand turn to head eastbound Deer Valley Road.
