
Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a deadly collision in west Phoenix.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on December 15, 2024, around 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a serious injury collision in the area of 7300 West Indian School Road. Officers arrived and located three adult males suffering from critical injuries. Two of the men identified as 35-year-old Erick Segura and 37-year-old Alonso Franco were pronounced deceased on scene.
A 28-year-old male and a 16-year-old male were taken to hospitals.
Detectives responded to take over the investigation. Preliminary information suggests that the driver, a 28-year-old male, operating a Chevrolet Camaro, was eastbound on Indian School Road in the curb lane when he attempted to change lanes to avoid a car going much slower than he was. The Camaro oversteered and crossed over into the westbound lanes where he collided head on a vehicle in the number 1 lane. The driver of Camaro sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he is recovering from multiple surgeries.
A Volkswagen Jetta, operated by 35-year-old Erick Segura was westbound on Indian School Road in the number 1 lane when the Camaro crossed over into the westbound lanes and the vehicles collided head on. The driver Erick Segura and Alonso Franco who was the passenger in the back seat suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased on scene by responding fire department personnel. The 16-year-old male front passenger suffered a broken arm and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
