Tucson

27th Annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration

The City of Tucson, thanks to the sponsorship of the Desert Diamond Casino and Entertainment Group, an enterprise of the Tohono O’odham Nation, will be presenting the 27th Annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration. The fireworks show will be launched from “A” Mountain/Sentinel Peak Park beginning at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, weather permitting.

The Tucson Convention Center Parking Lot B, the large lot on the west side of the TCC with access from Cushing Street and Granada Avenue, will be open for free viewing of the show beginning at 4 p.m. with food trucks on-site and open at 7 p.m. for business. Additional viewing areas will be available with free access for viewing at the City – State Garage, 498 W. Congress, and $8 per vehicle access at Mercado Parking Lot A, Block A1, Block B, and $15 per vehicle at Mercado Parking Lot D accessible from Avenida del Convento and South Linda Avenue just west of I-10 and south of Congress Street. Please be aware of construction restrictions on Linda Avenue.

Diamonds in the Sky

Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium will bring together two all-American favorites: baseball and fireworks. The annual Diamonds in the Sky event will feature the Sun Belt College Baseball League showcase game, followed by a 30-minute fireworks display. Admission is free with donation of a non-perishable item or $1. All proceeds go to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.

Yuma

The City of Yuma’s Annual Independence Day Celebration will be held Thursday, July 4, at Desert Sun Stadium. The event will feature one of the most epic fireworks displays in the Southwest! In addition, this non-alcoholic celebration will have food vendors, a DJ, and a foam party. Stadium seating is limited, so bring your blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the fireworks show!CLEAR BAG ONLY POLICY FOR THIS EVENT. (Only clear purses or bags, including diaper bags. No coolers.) Gates open at 6 p.m. The fireworks show kicks off at 9 p.m.

  1. This holiday is not to celebrate a date on the calendar and a long weekend. It is to celebrate the courage of the founders of this nation to take extreme risks to secure the liberties that sadly, most of our generation take for granted. Let’s give this day the solemn respect it deserves, by calling it what it is, Independence Day, and stop disregarding its solemn meaning with the misnomer, “4th of July.” The words we choose matter.
