Article Describing US Constitution And Bible As “Unconventional” Sparks Outrage

The characterization of the Bible as “unconventional” in an Arizona Republic article has sparked outrage with politicians and the public alike.

“The Arizona Republic @azcentral is calling the Bible that Congressman Hamadeh @AbrahamHamadeh sworn in on an “unconventional documents”. Unreal, the Bible is now considered an “unconventional documents” by the writers at the Arizona Republic,” tweeted Jeremiah Cota, Rep. Paul Gosar’s District Office Manager.

At issue is an article by Laura Gersony, “Like Sinema did, Arizona’s new members of Congress take oaths on unconventional documents.”

In her piece, Gersony noted that new Congresswoman Ansari took her oath of office using a copy of the U.S. Constitution and that Hamadeh used a Bible belonging to the family of the late humanitarian worker from Arizona, Kayla Mueller.

Both items are considered anything but unconventional based on the response to Cota’s tweet.

“Unconventional” would be the old looney tunes superintendent of Az public schools,” tweeted one follower with the handle @noprezzie2012, referring to former Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman. “The Bible is the norm and very conventional.”

“Consider the source,” tweeted The Mommy Lobby (@MommyLobbyAZ). “Don’t recall the Arizona Republic mentioning anything “unconventional” about former state official SPI Kathy Hoffman being sworn in using her fav children’s book “Too Many Moose” in 2019.”

“We have that reporter blocked and don’t interact with the lying corporate propaganda outlet at AZCentral,” responded Hamadeh. “They’re going bankrupt quick.”

In fact, many of Cota’s followers responded that they had unsubscribed and or blocked the Arizona Republic like Hamadeh long ago.

“The @azcentral hit a new low. @AbrahamHamadeh swearing in on a BIBLE with significant meaning is an UNCONVENTIONAL document,” tweeted former Assistant Arizona Attorney General Jennifer Wright in agreement. “We don’t hate legacy media enough. So proud of you, Congressman Hamadeh! Looking forward to you putting Arizona & America First as you represent GR8 48!”

  2. I’ve never had cause to subscribe to the AZ Republic, but a coworker long ago called it the “Arizona Repugnant”, and I’ve never found reason to disagree with him.

  3. Left-wingers should be sworn in while putting their hand on used toilet paper, because that’s what their oaths are worth.

It makes little difference what most of these officials are sworn in on, it could be a children’s book, a bible or an old copy of Playboy magazine…they have little intention of upholding the Constitution or rule of law when in office. It’s pretty hard to take most of them at their word, no matter what they promise. The hand on the book is not important, it’s the other hand that will soon be in the taxpayer’s pocket!

  5. Funny how the AZCENTRAL (Arizona Republic/Gazette and KTAR) transpired from a mainstream form of journalism into a non-conventual form of irrelevance.

    There is a reason this “news” outlet has shrank two-fold in distribution in one of the fastest growing media markets in the country. The reason is simple, Laura Gersony and her editor Greg Burton. The big giant head of AZCENTRAL, Gannett, should be taking a look at these Machiavellian goofballs.

Although it may seem the enemy and those he is influencing are attempting to derail God’s purposes, remember that the One who sits in the heavens laughs at their plans, and He will ultimately have them in derision (see Psalm 2:4). God is a Man of War, and in the end, His purposes shall surely prevail!
