A Maricopa County man, Keith James Taylor, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter and one count of Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident.
Taylor’s prison sentence is to be followed by five years of intensive probation.
According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, on November 27, 2023, Taylor was driving eastbound on Ocotillo Road when he struck a pedestrian who was crossing in a marked crosswalk at a canal crossing near McQueen Road. The pedestrian died from her injuries. Taylor fled the scene and later abandoned his vehicle after crashing into another car at a nearby intersection.
Chandler Police located Taylor and observed signs of intoxication. A test revealed a blood alcohol concentration more than twice the legal limit.
Taylor was arrested and charged with Manslaughter and Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident.
