Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a southside collision that left a woman dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on January 11, 2025, around 3:40 p.m., officers responded to the area of 8500 South Central Avenue regarding an injured person. As officers were responding, they learned that a woman was on the ground in front of a vehicle and appeared to be injured. When officers arrived, they located the adult female, identified as 62-year-old Laura Bigelow, with serious injuries. Bigelow did not survive these injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives believe that Bigelow parked her vehicle in a nearby parking lot. For unknown reasons, while Bigelow was at least partially out of the vehicle, the vehicle became mobile and struck Bigelow causing the serious injuries. Witnesses on scene indicated that only Bigelow was near the vehicle when it became mobile.

Impairment is believed to be a factor in this collision. Detectives have canvassed the surrounding area for additional evidence, to include surveillance footage, to piece together what occurred prior to the collision.
