Young Woman Killed In Phoenix Motorcycle Accident

Phoenix Police Department detectives were called to the scene of a fatal collision involving a young woman riding a motorcycle and a passenger car early Friday morning.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, at around 6:45 a.m. on January 31, 2025, patrol officers were called to the intersection of 35th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue for a crash. Officers and fire personnel got to the scene and found 19-year-old Mea Ortiz suffering from serious injuries. Ortiz was taken to the hospital with critical life-threatening injuries. While at the hospital, Ortiz was not able to overcome her injuries and died.

Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. It was learned that Ortiz was wearing a helmet as she was driving east on Dunlap Avenue when an adult female in a car pulled in front of her from 35th Avenue striking her. The driver of the car stayed on scene and did not show any signs of being under the influence. Details of what lead to this collision continue to be part of an ongoing investigation.
