Social Media Post Leads To Arrest Of Multiple Suspects, Seizure Of Guns And Drugs

Across the Valley, law enforcement officers identified and apprehended suspects who were using social media to traffic firearms and narcotics.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation revealed suspects were advertising fully automatic machine guns, known as “ghost full-auto short, barreled rifles’, semi-automatic pistols, and both AK-47 and AR-style rifles for sale. During the arrest, in addition to the weapons, 2000 fentanyl pills, small quantities of cocaine, MDMA, and methamphetamines were confiscated.

The Maricopa County Drug Suppression Taskforce (MCDST) is a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) initiative which is a taskforce comprised of several Law Enforcement agencies including, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), Buckeye Police, Tempe Police, Mesa Police, Surprise Police, Casa Grande Police, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, the Arizona Department of Corrections, and the DEA.

Task Force investigations are focused on the disruption and dismantling of mid-to-high
drug trafficking organizations throughout the state.
