Suspected Indicted For Deadly Attack At Tempe Park

A 37-year-old Maricopa County man, Aaron Sussex, has been indicted for First Degree Murder for a deadly shooting at Mitchell Park in Tempe.

According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, on February 12, 2025, Sussex allegedly opened fire on a group of people, striking three of them. One victim, 56-year-old Randolph Fraser, who was shot in the neck, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died. Two others suffered gunshot wounds but are expected to recover.

Sussex was arrested the next day at a relative’s home.

Sussex faces the following charges:

  • One count of First Degree Murder, a class One Felony
  • Two counts of Aggravated Assault, a class Three Felony
  • Two counts of Endangerment, a class Six Felony
  • One count of Misconduct Involving Weapons, a class Four Felony
  • One count of Disorderly Conduct, a class Six Felony
  • Sussex remains in custody on a $500,000 cash-only bond, which means he must pay the full amount in cash to be released. His trial is currently scheduled for October.

    1. From another reporting service, apparently Sussex knew the victims and it was a targeted attack. Sussex sought revenge for an earlier assault in which he sustained injuries. Its unknown who assaulted Sussex but he knew the group of people he attacked.
