Maricopa Police Officer Sebastian Sanchez who was injured in a shootout last week has been released from the hospital.
Officer Sanchez is now recovering at home, after he was wounded on Feb. 27 while pursuing Keith Tyler Prock.
Prock, a violent felon with outstanding warrants, had an extensive violent criminal history and was associated with a major gang.
The 38-year-old Prock tried to flee from officers after he was spotted at the Circle K at 18141 N. John Wayne Parkway just before 2:50 p.m.
During the foot pursuit, Prock produced a black handgun and shot at Officer Sanchez several times.
A second officer returned fire while Prock continued running and shooting at both officers.
Two detectives, driving an unmarked car, assisted in the pursuit. One detective, seated in the front passenger seat, also returned fire while their vehicle simultaneously struck Prock.
Prock died at the scene.
