After a year-long investigation, Homicide detectives have arrested three suspects linked to the homicide of a food truck vendor, Heriberto Acosta.

In custody are: Cameron Patterson, age 33, Montel Reed, age 32, and Cyrus Reed, age 36.

On February 17, 2024, around 11:35 p.m., Phoenix police officers responded to a stabbing outside a business near 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street. When they arrived, officers found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. The fire department arrived and rushed the man to the hospital where he died from his injuries. He was identified as the 41-year-old Acosta.

Detectives learned Acosta was a food truck vendor and was in the process of closing down for the night when a vehicle pulled into the parking lot. Multiple men got out of the vehicle and a fight began between the men and the food truck employees. During the fight, Acosta was stabbed multiple times, by Reed, before they got back into the vehicle and left.
