Second Hatchet Attack In Tucson Leaves Two Good Samaritans Injured

Another hatchet attack is being investigation by Tucson Police Department officers.

According to the Tucson Police Department, 42-year-old Frank Rick Lopez attacked two people with a hatchet after they tried to intervene when Lopez was trying to steal a woman’s cell phone.

The “good Samaritans” were seriously injured and were taken to the hospital.

The attack occurred at a bus stop in the area of Sabino Canyon and Tanque Verde Roads on Monday, May 12.

In April, a similar hatchet attack left one man dead.

Jacob Couch, a 32-year-old Alabama father of two, died from injuries he sustained during a brazen broad-daylight attack that left him “almost decapitated” at a Tucson bus stop as he waited with his wife on April 5th.

While Couch and his wife Kristen awaited their bus they were approached by 25-year-old Daniel Michael who confronted them. Couch tragically succumbed to his injuries after spending almost two weeks on life support.

Michael now faces charges for First Degree Murder.

Lopez is facing multiple charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault causing serious injury. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
