
Phoenix Police detectives are investigating self-defense claims made in the shooting of a man in Phoenix.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were called to a fatal shooting scene at 1300 South 20th Avenue to investigate the death of 21-year-old Omega McDaniels at around 4:38 a.m., on May 27, 2025.
Phoenix Fire employees at the scene took the 21-year-old McDaniels to the hospital. Suffering from critical injuries, McDaniels was not able to overcome his injuries and died at the hospital.
Detectives were able to identify two men related to this shooting. Both men were located and taken into custody. During interviews both men provided statements relating to self-defense. After a thorough review of all the information known at the time, detectives released both men pending the continued investigation.
