
Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a fatal collision that happened in west Phoenix and took the life of a 34-year-old pedestrian trying to cross Lower Buckeye Road on Wednesday night.
Just after 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 11, 2025, officers were called to a collision involving two pedestrians hit by a truck in the area of 85th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road. As officers got to the scene, they found both victims suffering from critical injuries. Phoenix Fire took each of the victims to local hospitals for treatment. One of the victims, identified as 34-year-old Christian Chevarillo was not able to overcome his injuries and died, the other man was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives learned through the investigation that both victims were attempting to cross Lower Buckeye Road outside of any marked crosswalks just east of 85th Avenue when they were hit by the involved truck.
The driver of the truck stayed on scene and did not show any signs of intoxication.
