Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man on Saturday.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on June 14, 2025, around 4:27 pm, officers responded to the area of 3rd Avenue and Jones Avenue regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died at the hospital.
Homicide and Night detectives believe the suspect, identified as Cristian Leonel Valdez Serna, pointed the gun, resulting in the fatal gunshot wound; he was later booked into the Maricopa County Jail on murder charges.
