Phoenix Police detectives have identified the victim of an shooting last Friday afternoon as 44-year-old Jason Powers.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on June 19, 2025, around 1:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of 16th Street and Glendale Avenue regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they located Powers with at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
As officers contacted witnesses, they were able to obtain a suspect description. A search for this suspect took place, resulting in the apprehension 25-year-old Aleksander Hornik.
Hornik was booked on multiple charges related to this incident to include murder.
