A man who killed three people in a drug-related robbery, Chase Scott Christman, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to the murders of Merissa Honeycutt, Samuel Lott, and Anthony Frederickson Ceccarelli.

Christman, age 31, received three consecutive natural life sentences.

According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, in July 2024, Phoenix Fire responded to an Ahwatukee apartment complex near 48th Street and Warner Road. Upon arrival, fire crews saw smoke coming from the apartment, with the door left unlocked. When they entered, they discovered three deceased individuals in a single bedroom, and Phoenix Police were called to take over the scene.

Further investigation revealed that one victim was stabbed, and the other victims suffered gunshot wounds. Evidence – including text messages, Christman’s blood at the scene, and location data from his phone placing him near the crime scene – established that Christman and an accomplice, Dorian Rice, had planned the robbery when the murders took place.

Christman pleaded guilty to the following charges:

  • Three Counts of First-Degree Murder, a Class One Dangerous Felony
  • Three Counts of Armed Robbery, a Class Two Dangerous Felony
  • One Count of Misconduct Involving Weapons, a Class Four Felony
  • “This was a particularly vicious act with one victim being stabbed nearly 30 times,” said County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. “This defendant tried to cover his tracks by setting the crime scene on fire. I’m grateful to the Phoenix Police Department for their investigative work, and our prosecutors who made sure he was unable to escape justice.”

    1. There is only one suitable punishment for wanton murder, let alone three, and it doesn’t involve clothing, feeding, and housing wastes of oxygen for even a single natural life sentence.

      • Spot on. This piece of garbage should have been banished from our planet, at sundown, the day after sentencing. is little friend too!
