Phoenix Police detectives are investigating the death of a man, Johnathan Joel Rosenlund, who was shot and killed in a south Phoenix neighborhood.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on August 3, 2025, at around 9:43 p.m., officers responded to the area of 24th Avenue and Broadway Road regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they located the 44-year-old Rosenlund with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers also identified two adult males involved in the incident and detained them. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and pronounced the Johnathan deceased. Officers were able to identify evidence and witnesses on the scene and secured the area.
The two adult males were transported to the Phoenix Police Department headquarters to be interviewed by detectives. Once the interviews were complete, both were released. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office will determine a final charging decision once the investigation is complete.
