Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred late Thursday night, resulting in the death of a man.
On August 14, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of a vehicle collision in the area of 24th Street and East McDowell Road. Upon arrival, they located a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital, where he died.
The vehicle involved initially left the scene but returned about an hour later. The driver was detained by officers.
Detectives believe that the man was crossing the roadway against the light when he was struck by a vehicle driving southbound.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
