
A firefighter assigned to the Dragon Bravo Fire in northern Arizona died in the line of duty.
According to the Southwest Area Incident Management Team the line of duty death occurred Monday afternoon, September 8, 2025, on the Dragon Bravo Fire in northern Arizona.
The firefighter was actively involved in suppression repair when he suffered a cardiac emergency near the North Rim Entrance Station. Rapid medical assistance was rendered from a line paramedic; however, resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
“Our hearts go out to his family and friends. The wildland fire community is inherently interagency, and a line of duty death impacts us all,” the National Park Service said in the announcement. “We deeply appreciate this firefighter’s dedication to his profession and to the communities threatened by wildland fire.”
Support is being provided to fellow professional wildland firefighters and friends on the Dragon Bravo Fire. An investigation is being conducted by the National Park Service in coordination with the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
