A suspect in connection with the brutal beating and sexual assault of a woman in a Phoenix alleyway last month has been arrested.
Phoenix Police Department detectives spoke to several witnesses who placed 24-year-old Luis Gustavo Prudente Tapia at the scene of the sexual assault. Investigators were able to track and arrest Tapia on September 20, 2025, in south Phoenix.
Tapia spoke to detectives and admitted to sexually and physically assaulting the victim the morning of August 14, 2025.
Phoenix Police detectives found a woman seriously injured in an alley near 46th Street and Oak Street at about 4:00 a.m. on August 14, 2025, after a caller reported hearing someone yelling. When officers arrived, they found a woman with significant injuries. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later stabilized.
