Man Arrested in False Reporting Case at Walmart

On October 2, 2025, at approximately 9:54 a.m., Officers of the Sahuarita Police Department were dispatched to a report of a fight occurring at the Walmart in Sahuarita. The 9-1-1 caller reported he had been in a physical confrontation with another male subject who had attempted to kidnap his child and the child of another person.

Several officers rushed to the scene and began searching for the suspect in question, and advised multiple law enforcement agencies in southern Arizona to be on the lookout for the suspect.

As officers began investigating this incident, the subject described by the 9-1-1 caller was located and interviewed. Surveillance footage was also reviewed of this incident.

Once interviews were finished and the surveillance footage was reviewed, it became clear that the incident reported had not occurred. There was no altercation, attempted kidnapping, or kidnapping that occurred.

The 9-1-1 caller was identified as Shane Jamrych, a 36-year-old resident of Sahuarita.

Jamrych was arrested at 3:15 p.m. for falsely claiming an attempted kidnapping and a fight to both 9-1-1 and the officers investigating the call. Jamrych was booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of making a false report to law enforcement.
