By demanding an outrageous $1.5 trillion spending increase that includes funding healthcare for illegal immigrants, Senate Democrats are proving they’ve become the party that puts Arizonans last.
Stopping illegal immigrants from receiving Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare subsidies is common sense. These extreme spending demands are nothing more than an attempt to obstruct the Trump administration, which has worked to strengthen our military and support our armed services.
Now, because of this political brinkmanship, servicemembers will miss paychecks and VA hotlines will go dark on the 15th. As a U.S. Army veteran who served this country with honor, it’s unacceptable to see Ruben Gallego — himself a former Marine — and Senator Mark Kelly supporting a shutdown that harms those who’ve worn the uniform.
Service members and veterans shouldn’t be forced to wait while politicians fight for people who broke the law to be here. The Senate should immediately pass a clean continuing resolution and end this shutdown.

BTW – what you read here – is not NEW SINCE THE SHUT DOWN ! This has been standard SOP for some years – I do note a bit worse in the “D” Years with DEI being one part of the catalyst of BS!! Butt the VA has been a ‘cluster copulation’ for some years – if you want social medicine – even military “Social Medicine” which is what “Social Medicine” would like like if it were enacted ; JUST ADD LONGER WAITS AND MORE BURACRACY!!!! IN SPADES!!! I’m a vet – I’m also sufficiently aged to have another alternate medical system. My choice – I’d not go the hospital in the VA my personal preference. Is ‘private’ hospital.. for profit better? I like to pretend it is.. there are actual doctors in the private hospitals.. the VA ‘rare ‘ unless its on a TV screen by phone.
I have no words for the disgusting politicians on both sides! Those that fight Pres. Trump and those tha ignorantly stay complacent and won’t fight for what’s right for US citizens!
Stop whining. Get out and demand Democrats to end the shutdown. Mumbling here does not solve the problem.
AMEN – if you voted “D” this is what you voted for
