84-Year-Old Jaywalker Killed in Phoenix Collision

Police detectives are investigating a north valley collision that left a jaywalker dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on October 30, 2025, around 7:35 p.m., officers responded to the area of 32nd Street and Campo Bello Drive regarding collision involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they located the pedestrian, later identified as 84-year-old Edward Pickles, with serious injuries. Pickles was transported to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The vehicle involved remained on scene after the collision.

Detectives believe that Pickles was crossing 32nd Street, mid-block, when he was struck by the vehicle involved.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this collision at this time.
