A sex offender, Adrian Villareal, is back in jail after following a girl to a school bus stop near downtown Buckeye.
According to the Buckeye Police Department, on Friday, November 21, the Department received a report from a mom who said a man harassed her 12-year-old daughter as she walked to the school bus stop near Baseline and Pima Roads. The suspect had since left the scene. Officers arrived and spoke to employees at a nearby daycare who said the suspect was walking in the area trying to talk to the girl so they brought her into the daycare where she safely waited for her bus.
Based on information gathered on scene, Buckeye police were able to identify the suspect as 48-year-old Adrian Villareal who had an active warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.
An officer circulating the area soon spotted Villareal less than half a mile away from the daycare. Villareal took off running into a back yard near 7th Ave and Deniza. After a brief standoff, Villareal was taken into custody. He was booked into jail on the warrant and charges of harassment and trespassing.
