Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a west valley hit and run crash that left a 53-year-old pedestrian dead.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on November 29, 2025, around 5:05 a.m., officers responded to the area of 4000 North 35th Avenue in response to a hit and run collision involving a pedestrian. When they arrived on scene, they located Victor Manuel Mendoza with life-threatening injuries. The Fire Department responded to the scene. But Mendoza was unable to survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The vehicle that hit Mendoza left before police arrived.
Detectives believe that Mendoza was crossing the road in a crosswalk, when a small sedan driving south on 35th Avenue ran a red light and hit the man. Based on the where Mendoza was located, it is believed that he may have been hit by other vehicles that also did not remain on the scene. Detectives will continue to investigate this crash.
