A grand jury has indicted a man, Tyrone Chilly, accused of shooting and killing a man and his young daughter outside a Phoenix shopping center near 9th Avenue and Baseline Road last month.
According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, on November 22, Chilly got into a physical fight with the driver of an SUV, Quincy Polk, and a woman who was a passenger. After the fight ended, everyone went back to their cars; however, Chilly then pulled out a gun and fired into the SUV, which had three children inside. The woman got out of the SUV and returned fire.
Polk and his 8-year-old daughter were killed. The woman and a 5-year-old girl were wounded. A 1-year-old girl who was also in the SUV was unharmed.
A grand jury indicted Chilly on the following charges:
- one count of First-Degree Murder, a Class One Dangerous Felony
- one count of First-Degree Murder, a Class One Dangerous Felony and Dangerous Crime Against Children
- one count of Attempt to Commit Second-Degree Murder, a Class Two Dangerous Felony
- one count of Aggravated Assault, a Class Two Dangerous Felony and Dangerous Crime Against Children
- one count of Aggravated Assault, a Class Three Dangerous Felony
- three counts of Endangerment, a Class Six Dangerous Felony
Chilly is currently being held on a $3,000,000 cash bond.
