Witnesses Sought in Deadly Shooting of 17-Year-Old

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a late evening shooting that left a teen dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on January 2, 2026, at around 10:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of 7th Street and Garfield Street regarding reports of shots fired.  When officers arrived, they found a teen male, identified as 17-year-old Aaron Williams, with at least one gunshot wound.  Williams was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Williams ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Phoenix Police detectives believe that multiple witnesses were in the area at the time of the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department or to call Silent Witness at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) and provide an anonymous tip. Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest in this case.
