This week, in the wake of revelations about massive fraud in Minnesota, Congressman Eli Crane introduced legislation to award citizen journalist Nick Shirley the Congressional Gold Medal following his reporting on waste, fraud, and abuse in Minnesota.

In a December 26 video, Shirley documented mass fraud in the Minnesota Somali population against U.S. taxpayers, totaling over $110 million. After the release of his report, the Trump administration took immediate action to halt federal funding to businesses accused of fraud, and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) ended his reelection campaign.
Crane says that Shirley is deserving of national recognition due to his investigative work and “dedication to the principles of the U.S. Constitution.”
