Known as “The Veto Queen,” Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs has vetoed the second attempt by the Arizona Legislature to bring Arizona’s tax codes in line with federal tax law changes created by President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
The veto leaves taxpayers in limbo and small business owners, as well as some legislators, outraged.
Arizona State Representative Nick Kupper tweeted, “@GovernorHobbs vetoed another tax conformity package that matched the forms her Dept of Revenue already issued. Her veto letter said anything other than her plan will fail. She seems to think it’s her right to unilaterally set tax policy. Katie, you WILL learn your role.”

National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) State Director Chad Heinrich expressed small business owners’ disappointment in Governor Katie Hobbs’ veto of tax certainty.
“Arizonans deserve better from their elected leaders. Twice, the Legislature has taken responsible action to protect hardworking Arizonans from tax uncertainty,” said Heinrich. “Twice, Governor Hobbs has chosen political gamesmanship instead—turning something as mundane as tax conformity into a partisan game. Because of her actions, Arizona’s tax filing season is in total chaos with taxpayers left both confused and frustrated.”
“Governor Hobbs’ own Department of Revenue has warned that failing to align the tax code with the forms they have already issued could force as many as one-third of filers to submit amended returns, pay again to refile, and owe additional taxes months later. That’s a disaster for taxpayers, the state, and the economy,” continued Heinrich.
“Small business owners are filing their taxes. They’re making decisions daily – who to hire, when to expand, and how to compete. Uncertainty hamstrings their ability to make sound decisions. They are the foundation of our state’s economy, and they need certainty in the state’s tax code now. On behalf of our members and small business owners across Arizona, we’re urging Governor Hobbs to get serious, quit playing games with Arizonans pocketbooks, and give taxpayers certainty,” concluded Heinrich.

Hobbs, the Veto Queen, holds the record for most vetoes, with less than 4 years in office. She is closing in on 200 total vetoes. Napolitano, the other Democrat train-wreck, had only 181 in six years. Dems love to cry “threat to democracy” while practicing anti-democratic actions regularly. In November, we have to veto Hobbs at the ballot box.
She is attempting to turn AZ into California, this is similar to what happened in the mid 90’s, Arizona is just a few decades behind, see San Francisco and Los Angeles for examples. Hobbs is a wannabe coastal elitist.
I wish it were a ‘few decades’ – it’s happening now.. not just Az. but nationwide – Its not just politic – its ‘In God We Trust’ where that TRUST is being broken.. bodes very poorly for this nation in the near term future.
Overturn her veto in the AZ House/Senate. It’s time to kick ass
They can’t…their margins are razor thin, and if they don’t play this election correctly, AZ will become CA, per P-3, the Pelosi Plantation Plan. Next up: Texas. It’s the Borderland Strategy of the Dimsheviks….and it will cause a Civil War since by 2050, Mexico will have 1/4 billion people, with the Mexican elites (Motto: “you get table scraps”) pushing out people north, as fast as they can.
Rid us of this despot!
lots of waaawaaawaaa – what’s the effect?
Will my employees have to pay taxes if over 65 years of age –
Will my employees have to pay taxes on OVERTIME that was promised to be removed ?
How do you start a recall – Where ?
I file once and send rest to dept 86
How surprising……Not!!!! veto Katie is like any other Democrat wanting to raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations and by doing so they ultimately raise taxes on everyone else Democrats hate cutting taxes
